The UDA will receive the work of the composer Luis Humberto Salgado

The General Auditorium of the University of Azuay will be the setting for Salgado Lírico, a semi-nationalized work that stages three operatic works -Cumandá, Eunice and El Centurión- by the Ecuadorian composer Luis Humberto Salgado.

This presentation will be next Friday 6 of December at eight in the evening and will be in charge of the artistic director Javier Andrade.

The show will feature the participation of the Polyphonic Choir of the UDA and the Youth Choir of the Superior Conservatory José María Rodríguez, under the direction of the teacher María Eugenia Arias; in addition to the singers María Augusta Jibaja, Jorge Casis and Argentina's Rosario María Febre.

Ivonne Schiaffino will be accompanying on the piano.

Andrade comments that it is sad to see these “jewels” being stored in archives, so he wanted to keep Salgado's work alive through this event and, in turn, publicize the genre of the opera and that the new generations learn from it.

“It is important to see how Salgado joins a composition of sound aspects of the most important of the time. It is a conviction to move forward, a conviction that left future generations, ”adds Andrade.

He also says that December is the perfect month to present this event since Salgado was born and died in this month.

Andrade will travel to Europe next year to present the same work in Rome on January 19, in Barcelona on January 21 and in Vienna on January 23. The events will be held alongside Ecuadorian artists residing in those places.
