Student of Economy awarded for essay in public policies

Carmen Aucapiña, a student of the Economics degree at the University of Azuay, received the October 24 in Quito for her diploma for winning the “Ideas for the Future” contest in the Public Policies category.

The contest is organized by the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Central Bank of Ecuador.

Aucapiña's essay, “Formulation of public policies and their impact on the development of entrepreneurship in Ecuador”, had been one of the best final works of the subject of Analysis of the Ecuadorian economy, taught by Professor Silvia Mejía in the career .

This essay on entrepreneurship development in Ecuador suggests that the State should conduct an analysis of the main indicators provided by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor.

According to the author, public policies should be based on four axes that promote entrepreneurship: promotion of the entrepreneurial attitude at an early age, advice on the viability of a business idea, support for the implementation of an idea and support a newly established business .

"I think we are doing things well and this is reflected in the work of our students who demonstrate their capacity for economic analysis and are very competitive," said Professor Mejía.

The student is now preparing for the international competition with representatives from 18 Latin American countries.
