Inauguration of the Hall of Honor

Inauguration of the Hall of Honor

The July 31 inaugurated the Hall of Honor, located between the Department of Postgraduate Studies and the lower part of the Hernán Malo Library.

This space was born to celebrate the thinking, ideas and creativity of our university community.

The place has incorporated the magic and color of a stained glass window made by the artist Patricio León, together with the permanent exhibition "Kingman-Dávila", two emblematic figures of the plastic and the Ecuadorian word.

“When the Rector asked me to develop this space to make it the UDA Hall of Honor, I considered many options and themes to conceive its design. But I chose the basic question: What is a stained glass window? It is chasing the light. Find him, paint him and let him express himself for the magical expressions of tones and colors that change with her, explained Patricio León and added:

“The highlight of the light is that through it, we can reach color. The light color, the line and the abstraction are the synthesis and essence of a stained glass window. I am very grateful to this university and I know that it seeks without a doubt the light of knowledge, for that reason I will call this stained glass window as the light in the light ”.

This event was attended by authorities, university forgers, professors, administrative staff and students.

“This Hall of Honor that we inaugurate today is to live and celebrate the value of values, the indicator principle that validates us as Universidad del Azuay and that inspired our smiths present today with us in this special and intimate opportunity. We have asked that this room be filled with light, art and color with the wonderful stained glass window that is a real gift from Patricio León for his University, ”said Francisco Salgado.

The Rector added that in this space the students will be able to defend their thesis, the authors will be able to present their books, the professors will share their findings in their inquiries and the philosophers will invite us to think about the art of living.

For his part, Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor of the University of Azuay, said that the room ratifies what is already in the educational model of the University:

"We are training people capable of transforming the world, because the University of Azuay is made up of capable people and these physical changes demonstrate this reality."

Finally, the guests toured the facilities of the Hall, the Library and then attended to witness the opening video of the new screen that is located outside the building of the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Education Sciences, which will replace printing of single use canvas.
