New edition of the Vertical Workshop

This 13 of May, in the Sucre Theater, was held the inaugural event of the V edition of the Vertical Workshop, a meeting organized by the Architecture and Urbanism Laboratory of the Universidad del Azuay addressed to students and professionals nationwide.

The vertical workshop is a space for reflection and experimentation, which aims to explore for a week an urban-architectural theme of current importance in the city and the country. On this occasion, the workshop focused on the theme "Equipment and City", with a thorough investigation of the reality of Cuenca.

The facilities are one of the structural elements of a city and are fundamental in urban development and to provide a better quality of life to citizens.

For this edition, the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art established contact with architectural offices that are dedicated to everything related to equipment, faithful to the subject to be treated in this space. Throughout the Vertical Workshop there were offices in Brazil, Mexico, Spain and, of course, Ecuador.

On this occasion, it has been taken as a basis urban studies that reveal the need to implement new equipment, highly rotating, in order that these generate continuous flows and nourished users to activate spaces with deficiencies in their urban dynamics.

The projects to be resolved were located in different areas of the city, supporting projects undertaken by the Planning Department. Among the selected places were the Historical Center, areas linked to the Tram, Ochoa León, among others.

The inaugural event featured a conference given by the MEDIOMUNDO office, with Spanish architects Marta Pelegrín and Fernando Pérez.
