Presentation of the book "Noise 2015-2016"

The University of Azuay -in conjunction with the Municipality of Cuenca- presented the book "Noise 2015-2016" on the past 13 of June; project that went ahead thanks to the support of the Institute of Sectional Studies of Ecuador (IERSE).

The book, made by teachers Omar Delgado and Julia Martínez, summarizes the monitoring of ambient noise in the city of Cuenca.

This program, in which the Cuenca Environmental Management Commission also participates, aims to evaluate the city's exterior noise emissions, which are mainly caused by vehicular traffic.

At the beginning of the event the Rector of the UDA, Francisco Salgado, congratulated the members of the IERSE for the work done and thanked the Municipality of Cuenca for all the support received during the various investigations outlined in the book.

The director of the IERSE, Omar Delgado, commented that there are currently 31 measuring points of which 13 belong to residential areas. In the book you can clearly see in what places this initiative has been carried out.

The book also has historical analyzes and comparisons of the noise level in the city, interpolation methods and explains how the CADNA software works, which is used for measurement in the different points of the city.

This is a program of long-term processes, which wants to deepen more the issues of environmental control in the city of Cuenca and thus generate awareness in the use of vehicles, especially in the Historic Center.
