Electoral schedule for the University of Azuay

Electoral schedule for the University of Azuay

On September 17, the University Council decided to call elections to elect those who will be the representatives of the professors and the workers of the institution for the next three years before the Co-government bodies.

This electoral clause is contained in article 11, letter "f" of the Statute of the University of Azuay.

Ximena Mejía, General Secretary of the University, stressed that the importance of these electoral processes is to guarantee the democratic participation of the three levels that make up the university (teachers, workers and students), since these will decide who will form the University Council.

Likewise, Dr. Mejía announced that in the following days the lists in which nine professors and one worker (both main candidates and substitutes) to integrate the University Council should be presented.

“The list of the representatives of the professors to integrate this Council has to observe the vertical alternation of gender between both the principal and alternate representatives and will be made up of at least one teacher from each faculty,” said the Secretary General.

The electoral process has been planned since the month of July to establish the schedule and determine which co-government bodies should hold elections, since not all Academic Units coincide in the same year.

In these votes, to integrate faculty councils by teachers, the faculties of Philosophy, Letters and Education Sciences will not participate; Science and Technology, and Legal Sciences.

On the part of the workers, the faculties of Administration Sciences and Legal Sciences will not be available since the current representatives of each one are still fulfilling their mandate.

This is the electoral calendar for the remainder of the year:
