Launching of the Territorial Social Information Platform

The 5 of June was presented to the student community and society Cuenca the Territorial Social Information Platform for the 6 Zone, fruit of the research of the Sectional Studies Institute of Ecuador (IERSE) of the University of Azuay and the Coordination of Planning of the 6 Zone, in addition to the significant contribution of entities such as Ecu 911, University of Cuenca, National Police, among others.

The event was attended by Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay; Xavier Enderica, then Governor of Azuay; Josué Vega, Planning Coordinator for the 6 Zone; Omar Delgado, Director of IERSE, and Domingo Gómez, professor of Territorial Planning of Madrid.

The welcome was in charge of the Rector, who was followed by the words of the governor, who highlighted the importance of this project for the political leaders of the province.

The 6 Zone Planning Coordinator presented the platform, which is on the UDA website, and taught the process for the implementation of the tools that are available to the general public free of charge.

The tools have been classified into different categories such as Mass Movements, Protected Areas, Water Resources, Services and Equipment, Electric, Mining, Culture, and others.

At the end of the intervention of Vega, the Director of the IERSE, delved into the benefits of this resource, the long-term plans and the territorial ordering of rural land.

"This platform is clearly an advance that will not only serve the general public, investors, directors and political leaders, but will also work as evidence to know over the years, how our territory evolves. We are committed to continue with this project and not let it become obsolete over the years, "said Delgado.

Before closing the event, Domingo Gómez, professor of Territorial Planning, shared with the audience his views on the project, adding from his experience tips that could be important for the development and maintenance of the platform.
