Universidad del Azuay signs agreement for the implementation of the HUB 6 and 7 zone

On Thursday 27 of September the University of Azuay, represented by the Rector Francisco Salgado, signed an agreement for the implementation of the HUB 6 and 7 with the universities of the Ecuadorian Austro (University of Cuenca, National University of Education, Polytechnic Salesian University, Catholic University of Cuenca, Private Technical University of Loja and Technical University of Machala) and the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

HUBs are networked spaces, through which the Academy, the productive sector and the Government will provide support to young people who wish to start and do not know how or where to start.

The objective of the implementation of the HUB South is to promote a strategic articulation between the academic, social, public and productive sectors, and to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer in the aforementioned universities.

The innovators participating in this initiative will have permanent support during the development of their project, in order to build a prototype and generate a business model that, in addition, will have a regional impact.

At the national level, six will be installed, which will operate under the network modality; a management model that seeks to articulate and optimize the infrastructure, human talent and equipment of 53 educational institutions to facilitate training activities and technical support to jointly develop projects with innovation potential.

Father Javier Herrán, Rector of the Salesian Polytechnic University, spoke on behalf of all the universities: "We have to complete this sum of synergies, we must not be a university divided into 8 parts, but 8 parts that form a university".

The implementation of the HUB will be done with an investment of 1.8 million dollars.
