UDA celebrated the 25 years of having internet

On Thursday 30 November the Universidad del Azuay celebrated the first 25 years of having the network of networks, as well as the launch of the new network for learning and research at the University.

The UDA was the first university in Cuenca and the second in the country to access a university network on the Internet.

In 1992, on the initiative of Francisco Salgado and the work of Fernando Balarezo, Rector Mario Jaramillo was proposed for the first time to enter the internet. Four years later the UDA had its website.

In the 2000, the library information was already added to the UDA website, 2002 implemented the e-mail service and a year later services were provided for the students, such as the publication of the grades.

In the act of this Thursday the delivery of agreements was made to those who, with their committed and hard work, have promoted the internet for the technological development of the University of Azuay.

"The fundamental thing is that we must use that technology to improve learning and research," said the Rector of the UDA, Francisco Salgado, at the opening of the act that took place in the Hall of Multiple Use.

The official launch of the new network in the UDA was in charge of Fernando Balarezo, who stressed that the new system has a capacity of 10GB speed per second and double fiber ring.

This year, Google services were also incorporated.

"Everything with a great goal, to be a university of recognized quality and at the height of the best", concluded Balarezo.
