SWACH Program: challenges and solutions for the future of water in Cuenca

September 25 marked 28 consecutive days without rain in our city, an alarming situation that threatens the supply of drinking water in our homes. It is important that we take responsibility as water consumers and take immediate action.

The SWACH program, "Sustainable Water Management for the Basin under Climate Change Scenarios," in which teachers from our University participate, calls on the community to adopt conscious and responsible use of water in our homes. We must limit drinking water consumption and reserve it for essential activities.

This program's main objective is to evaluate the availability of water in the next 30 years in Cuenca, as well as the consumption behavior of citizens and demographic projections. This will allow the development of strategies that guarantee a safe supply of drinking water for the city.

This program undoubtedly invites us to reflect and act in the face of this critical situation that affects us all. Each of us plays a fundamental role in preserving this vital resource.
