Launch of the third theater festival '' Cuenca on stage ''

On November 23, at the University Teatrino, the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Art - together with the Theater Company - inaugurated the third festival of the Cuenca theater: `` Cuenca on stage ''.

The event was attended by Martha Cobos, Academic Vice Chancellor; Jacinto Guillén, Vice Chancellor for Research; Genoveva Malo, Dean of the Faculty, and Jaime Garrido, Director of the Theater Company.

The festival '' Cuenca en Escena '' seeks to strengthen the Ecuadorian scenic heritage by disseminating works by local scenic creators who have developed works in various genres and styles during the 2015-2019 period.

This initiative is part of the itinerary of activities of the Theater Company of the University of Azuay planned for the 2019 period. The works on display seek to diversify audiences and expand the offer of theater shows in Cuenca.

The functions emphasize the value of scenic work production and will stimulate the consumption of artistic products created for collective awareness.

The event began with the musical intervention of Gabriela Méndez and Belén Campoverde, students of the School of Theater Arts. Then Martha Cobos addressed the students of the Theater School:

'' The human being is characterized by having the ability to create, that sets us apart from the other species. People who work in the theater work all the time with that talent of the human being. You are responsible for generating awareness and emotions in people. ''

Afterwards, Genoveva Malo commented that "Art must cross us to make us more human." For the Dean the artists are those seeds in charge of sensitizing people.

To end the program, Jaime Garrido explained that the acting project is based on multiple investigations that seek to boost national scenic art.

The works open to the public are:

The invisible birthdays of Ubu Teatro, Mary and Raúl by Pablo Rojas, Luna Ojitos de Luna Teatro, Puka and Yana de Obsidiana Dorada, The silence of María de Insensato Teatro, Absences of Teatro Pie, The purple coyote of Fabián Durán, Oroburus del Eidyllion Collective, Dream Thief of Imay Culture.
