Gerardo Salgado presents his book "Keys to return" at the UDA

The basin poet Gerardo Salgado presented his new book “Keys for the return” in November, in the Honor Room of the University of Azuay, with the presence of Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay; Javier Herrán Gómez, Rector of the Salesian Polytechnic University, and Oswaldo Encalada, commentator of the work.

"The main resources used in the book were metaphor and comparison," said Dr. Encalada and added: "Metaphors have the ability to enhance poetic language extraordinarily and Gerardo achieves it easily and each step, through a magnificent poetic expression" .

Gerardo Salgado is one of the best known figures of the current Cuenca poetry. His work is dyed by the love of life and humanity. It presents great ease and agility, especially in short texts.

The poet, who stops to sing in any space, likes to get ahead in the details of everyday life, a fact that is reflected, among other things, in the continuous mention of certain numbers and days a week, whose symbolism is evident.

The author of the book has obtained various awards such as the Doctor Vicente Rocafuerte award granted by 2001 by the National Congress of Ecuador, the National First Class Cultural Merit Decoration of the Ministry of Education and Culture in the 2003, the signature Fray Vicente Solano granted by the Municipality of Cuenca in 2015, among others.

“I want to thank the support that has been given to this book, from my mom with her moral support, to my brother Rodrigo who also threw me into the ring, and I also want to thank the presence of my relatives, friends and colleagues who have come the day of today ”, said Gerardo Salgado when closing the presentation.
