Discussion on the challenges of Justice

The 30 of April, the School of Law - with the collaboration of lawyer María Dolores Miño, director of the Observatory of Rights and Justice of Quito - held a discussion on human rights, access to justice, and the American system and its international instruments .

The talk revolved around how the human rights system, through international bodies, promotes that in cases where there is no independent justice, solutions can be found that restore that broken order.

This discussion was mainly aimed at students who are in the fourth and fifth year of law school, due to the degree of knowledge they present as they are doing pre-professional practices.

The main objective was for students to understand how the American and Inter-American human rights system establishes criteria and conditions to guarantee independent access to justice, and thus avoid any kind of pressure or political, economic or friendships interest at the time. to make a decision in the trial.

Ana María Bustos, Coordinator of the Law School, said that there are many challenges that will have to be faced, so there must be a solid academic formation by the judges and lawyers who develop the judicial processes to prevent "minor violations". that impede access to justice.

"I believe that the strongest challenge is ethical and professional training with solid foundations, both academic and human, of the people who perform or are in the process of realizing justice," said Bustos.

To end the event, María Dolores Miño made known her personal, professional and academic knowledge to the students, who obtained feedback through questions.
