The University of Azuay chose its new authorities

This Thursday 5 of January the elections of the first authorities of the University of Azuay were carried out: Rector, Academic Vice-Rector and Vice-rector of Investigations for the period 2017-2022.

The results were as follows: List 1: More UDA Candidate for Rector: Francisco Salgado Arteaga, Ph.D Candidate for Academic Vice-Rector: Martha Cobos Cali, Ph.D Candidate for Vice-Rector for Research: Mgt. Jacinto Guillén García. Percentage of votes: 61.42%

2 List: Towards Excellence Candidate for Rector: Gustavo Chacón Vintimilla Ph.D, Candidate for Academic Vice-Rector: Ana Lucía Pacurucu Pacurucu Ph.D, Candidate for Vice-Rector for Research: Mgt. Carlos Guevera Toledo. Percentage of votes: 33.05%.

The null votes reached 1.38%, the whites the 0.09% and the percentage of votes not covered 4.06%. The winning list reached the majority of the votes in the three classes: teachers, workers and students.

The authorities were elected with the vote of the titular professors of the University of Azuay; regular undergraduate and graduate students who have approved a number of credits equivalent to the first year of studies of the curriculum of their career or program, and workers who provide their services under a dependency relationship and maintain an indefinite work contract with the institution .

The electoral process was developed normally between the 12: 00 and 18: 00. The provisional proclamation of results was made to the 19h00: the definitive proclamation will be made after the conclusion of the term for the challenge.

In his first statements, Dr. Salgado said he felt "an immense gratitude to the university community that with its democratic decision has designated us for these high responsibilities, which, as we always said in the campaign, are nothing but an instance of service for this community."
