Environmental engineering

Our Environmental Engineers will use the principles of engineering and the study of the natural environment to propose relevant technical-scientific solutions, through the planning, calculation, design and implementation of environmental proposals that contribute towards a sustainable future, prioritizing Nature-Based Solutions as alternative to natural or anthropogenic problems of flooding, water scarcity, soil erosion, among others. The environmental issue is in the world's sights and the opportunities within your reach. That is why our graduates will also be able to leave with extensive professional experience, actively participating in projects developed by departments such as the IERSE and our research teachers from the Faculty of Science and Technology.

That is why our graduates will also be able to leave with extensive professional experience by actively participating in projects developed by departments such as IERSE and our research professors from the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Occupational field

The training of our environmental engineers is unique in the country and the region, which is why our graduates will be able to:

  • Design and propose natural or semi-natural solutions that guarantee greater resilience to environmental problems triggered by climate change
  • Formulate and evaluate environmental projects in which the fundamentals of engineering are applied and lead to the improvement of the environment from the application of clean technologies, taking into account current regulations.
  • Design solid waste management systems and environmental sanitation.
  • Evaluate the impacts generated by local, national and regional socio-economic processes.
  • The environmental engineer graduated from the University of Azuay will also be able, due to the knowledge acquired and the number of credits, to apply for master's and doctoral programs at any university in the world, to specialize and/or dedicate himself to research.
