Universidad del Azuay will have a sustainable library

The building will have three work areas: meeting rooms for research groups with availability for videoconferences; individual cubicles and a general work area.

A library energized by a solar light system, through photovoltaic panels, will open the University of Azuay (UDA) at the end of April. The remodeling and extension of the Hernán Malo Library represented an investment of two million dollars, financed through a loan "for technological infrastructure and sustainable energy development" from the Development Bank.

The building will have space for 500 people, with high speed internet and digital scientific information with a version towards the technological future, it will work through an open shelving system where approximately 20.000 books will be placed.

The University of Azuay also invested in the construction of the UDA Baños Campus (E-cub), a project that will have a Coliseum for 1.300 people, civic plaza, courts, library, recreational areas and eight classrooms that will host 2.500 students. The work will be completed in two years.

Currently, the UDA has 6.796 students, 539 teachers and 280 employees and employees. To date he has 28 careers in his six faculties: Administration Sciences; Philosophy, Literature and Education Sciences; Science and Technology; Design, Architecture and Art; Legal Sciences and Medicine.

With regard to postgraduate studies this year, the Specialization in Emergency Medicine and Disasters was approved; the Master of Production and Industrial Operations with mention in Logistics and Supply Chain; Master's Degree in Commerce with mention in Entrepreneurship and Innovation; and an online specialization in University Teaching, the first of its kind to offer the university.

To facilitate the labor insertion of its students, the institution has established contacts, agreements and strategic alliances with public and private companies, which facilitates work networks for students to access pre-professional practices and projects related to society.  

"The UDA has a job bank whose main objective is to direct the graduates of each career to companies that offer vacancies" says the academic vice-rector, Martha Cobos Cali.
