A minga makes possible the VI Marathon of the Story and the Arts
A minga between institutions makes it possible for the VI edition of the Marathon of the Story and the Arts arrived in Cuenca. It is the collective and community work of various entities that allows gathering from October 24 to 26 to the authors, illustrators, researchers, pedagogues, for an encounter with books, readings, illustrations, training, book fair.
The minga aims to generate other spaces related to the arts. The Marathon is an event in which, the Municipality, through the Directorate of Culture, plays the leading role, leads the organization of the event and next to it are: the Educational Unit Assumption as a promoter, the University of Azuay which gives academic endorsement and cultural support.
At the minga, Girándula, promoter of the Marathon at the national level, brings together 15 authors for this year. The Federation of Catholic Educational Establishments, which proposes various academic activities. The Directorate of International Relations of the Municipality that joins this year, with the sister cities of Cuenca and some embassies, to read and learn about authors and works, in French, English, German.
Three levels of reading promotion
In the three days, lto VI Marathon aspires to gather between six thousand and eight thousand people. His reading promotion project is framed on three levels. a) reading mediation, the best way to make the reading child; b) reading promotion; c) book production and the importance of generating spaces where people meet the book.
Unto Marathon with ten hours a day of mediation and the presence of 15 local authors, national and international, and within them AlicIa Barberis (Argentina), writer, reading mediator, oral narrator). The purpose of bringing an international mediator is to learn methodology, educational technology that will be shared with librarians and students.
The meeting to be held next week, is nuanced with moments of mediation, editorial and text production, as well as book presentation, and a book fair with 30 confirmed shelves for national publishers, said one of the promoters of the Eliana Bojorque event.
Workshops and exhibition of illustrations
A Marathon thought from the training, with the presence of illustrators of Girándula, who will give workshops to the students of the Design career of the universities of Cuenca and Azuay. The training in workshops is due to the presence in Cuenca of a quarry of illustrators with whom books are produced in the city.
The field of illustration will be represented with the Faculty of Design of the University of Azuay that will open an exhibition of illustrations, for this, the organizers summon students and illustrators from Cuenca to present their works, the parallel show to the Marathon opens on October 25, at the Faculty. In addition, the French Alliance will exhibit illustrations by French authors.
This edition VI of an encounter with the story, reading and books will have a recreational space, with the creation of the labyrinth of words.
