An early care project for children at risk

In the House of Service to the Society of the University of Azuay (UDA), located in Solano Avenue and Tadeo Torres, attention is given to children who require a neurohabilitation process, where there will also be accompaniment to families through psychoeducation, with what is intended to improve the quality of life, both the child and his family.

Modern technology and medical advances contribute to increase the rate of child survival, however, morbidity (diseases) has also increased.

Therefore, it is important to study the development of children and the early signs of deviation from the neonatal period and the first months of life with greater care and attention.

In Ecuador, between an 13 and 15% of the population has some degree of disability according to data from the National Council on Disabilities. In this group are children, with a high percentage. There are no precise national statistics, but it is known that the attention to children, in terms of their development and care, is not in the international parameters of good quality, which is sought to be overcome with the help center of the UDA.

In this context is born the "Project of early attention to high risk children" that gives attention to small between 0 and 2 years. Said attention consists of an evaluation of the development, said Jorge Espinoza, project director.

For children who require it, attention is Monday through Friday, with 08 schedule: 00 to 10: 00 and 16: 00 to 18: 00. Information to the mail: jeq@uazuay.edu.ec
