UDA celebrates half a century

 

Nostalgia, joy, celebration, music and hugs marked the reunion of students, alumni, faculty and staff of the University of Azuay, UDA, which developed the memorial parade yesterday promotions for their 50 year anniversary.

 

With badges of different colors, which the attendees dressed according to the Faculty, they left from the House of Services of the UDA, located in Fray Vicente Solano Avenue.

 

At the head of the parade were the authorities and they were followed by groups of former students of the first class. After them, the graduates of the following years. The parade advanced along the Roberto Crespo street, in the direction of the University.

 

Pedro Mosquera, one of the 10.000 attending the parade, despite not finding any other partner promotion (2013) joined other delegations with whom he shared pleasant moments. "I came to reconnect with my friends in the classroom, but to my surprise no one came, however, as in college now, you make friendships everywhere, I joined other groups that are also part of my family, the UDA family "He said.

 

Veronica Puruncajas, former student dressed in fuchsia, said that this was highly anticipated reunion "is pleased to see friends you shared a lot of time in the classroom," he said excitedly.

 

In that Diego Cabrera agreed, who seemed that his colleagues have changed, but said that "friendship will last forever."

Cristian Cobos, representative of the alumni, was satisfied with the attendance. He recalled that the preparations began three months ago: "We organized by groups, social networks contributed a lot in the call, so we managed to gather the contacts of several former students and prepare with the badges set by the University."

 

At the end of the parade, the university community concentrated on the courtyards of the institution to enjoy the festive program, which included a gastronomic fair and an exhibition of classic cars.

 

The celebration is completed with a reflection on training

The half century of the institution was reason for the authorities to reflect on their work and the challenges that the academy has in the future. The half-century of the institution of higher education "is marked by the formation of people who are capable of transforming the world," said its rector, Francisco Salgado. The UDA has six faculties, with 28 careers and around 7.000 students. The authority assured that the university works to adapt to the changes that occur in all areas.
