UDA opens Hult Prize for social ventures
The world's largest social entrepreneurship competition, Hult Prize, opens for university students from Cuenca, for the first time. The University of Azuay, UDA, presented yesterday the program whose main objective is to generate changes in society based on innovative proposals from young people.
Each year a challenge is established for the competitors and this time it consists of "how to take advantage of the power of energy to improve the life of 10 millions of people in the world for five years", for which the different areas and needs linked to energy, such as health, connectivity, mobility, education, water training, storage and transport, agriculture, food and farming.
 
 
"We want to support and accompany from the university our young people to be protagonists and carry out their ideas," said Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay.
On the other hand, Mishelle Campo, director of Campo de Hult Prize in the UDA, invited the university students of all the races to register in the competition.
 
 
"They can do this by forming their teams of three or four people and go to the competition that will be held on December 15 campus," he said.
He also explained that in this period of time lectures, activations, and other activities will be held in the different faculties.
Also participated in the event Analiz González, finalist of the Hult Prize 2016 and ex-students of the UDA. She motivated young students to believe in their abilities. "Let this be the platform to undertake in a social way and thus help thousands of people who require it and, in that way, change the world," he said.
 
Requirements 
The first thing is to be students of the University of Azuay. Another requirement is that they form interdisciplinary teams. Once enrolled for two weeks, they receive mentoring to support their ideas.
 
Selection
Several of the project selection criteria are that they generate socially sustainable, scalable and fast-growing companies; to take advantage of the power of energy to transform the lives of 10 millions of people for the 2025. The impact of the business designed to obtain results and, of course, is feasible will also be taken into account.
