Second doses continue without interruption

Second doses continue without interruption

The application of second doses of vaccines against COVID-19 in Cuenca are progressing regularly, reported yesterday by the Health Zonal Coordination 6. The days are fulfilled through scheduling via text message on the cell phone or via email, this according to the date of application of the first dose.

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) recalled that those who received the Pfizer vaccine 21 days ago can go to the immunization centers even if the verification message has not reached their cell phone or email, while those who received the Sinovac vaccine must do so 28 days after the first dose.

In the case of AstraZeneca, the deadline is 48 days.

The vaccination points in Cuenca are the Bicentennial Campus of the University of Azuay, located behind the Borja school, and the Poliforo of the Catholic University of Cuenca. On this last point there is confusion since the CNT messages indicate the Poliforo of the University of Cuenca as a vaccination point, a building that does not exist.

The first doses, at the moment only apply to people with physical or intellectual disabilities of more than 50% and patients with catastrophic diseases, this in the Manuela Garaicoa school. The delay in the delivery of vaccines from abroad creates a pause in care for those who have not been vaccinated.

For now the priority is vulnerable groups and front-line personnel. The Ministry reported that it is expected to reach May 24, the date of the change of Government, with the guarantee that there are vaccines for second doses and with all the teachers immunized nationwide.
