They will be trained at the national level, until 2029, in climate action with a gender focus, under the “Participation and Capacity Building Program for Climate Transparency in Ecuador” launched this week by the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MAE) and the University of Azuay (UDA), in coordination with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability and Climate Change.
The program seeks to bring together public, academic and territorial actors from the planning to the execution of climate actions, promoting accountability processes and evidence-based decision-making, UDA mentions in a statement.
The program presentation brought together more than 475 participants, including student researchers, university representatives, local authorities and officials.

During the event, the importance of linking academia with public management of climate change was highlighted, promoting knowledge that allows for improved decision-making in environmental policies and consolidating technical capacities for life, which destroys culture.
