Prefecture and two universities sign agreement

The representatives of the Prefecture and the Universities of Cuenca and Azuay signed yesterday three institutional cooperation agreements to evaluate, develop a management model and carry out exploration and extraction of groundwater.

The first was between the Public Company of Arid and Asphalt of Azuay, Asafaltar, and the Public Company of the University of Cuenca, Ucuenca, to develop projects, studies and actions aimed at optimizing management.

With the results obtained, it will be determined whether or not to continue Asphalting, explained the prefect Yaku Pérez, who added that an operational, financial and institutional evaluation will also be obtained.

The company Asfaltar was created by ordinance in 2010, under the vision of contributing with the change of the road matrix of the province, from ballast to asphalt.

Gonzalo Clavijo, director of roads of the Pride, mentioned that the first results on the financial stage will be delivered in a month.

The other agreement was signed between the University of Azuay and the Prefecture to evaluate and recommend the endogenous development management model of the province, marked in the National Government Plan and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The third agreement is to develop works of extraction and exploitation of groundwater for multiple use in the premises of the educational institution. In this way, this academic institution will allocate 35.828 dollars to the Prefecture to carry out the work with the drilling equipment that is owned by the provincial entity.

Francisco Salgado, rector of the UDA, noted that the agreements will allow joint scientific research. (I)
