Technical personnel will be trained in aggregate and stone management

A total of 50 people will be trained in the technical management of aggregates and stone, which is promoted by the Municipality of Cuenca and the University of Azuay, UDA. The opening ceremony of this process took place this Friday, September 7, 2018.

The topics that will be addressed during the workshop will be the following: good practices, extraction of arid and stony materials; mining-environmental regulations, mining safety, entrepreneurship and field practices.

The seminar will have a total of 80 hours and is aimed at artisans who have permits and concessions for the extraction of material within the Cuenca canton. 

The municipal director of Arid and Stones, Pablo Crespo, reported that after the transfer of powers from the central government, the municipality performs the control, monitoring and regulation of 14 artisan permits and 16 concessions within the canton. 

“As far as 2018 goes, 128 inspections of permits and concessions were deployed, located in the rural parishes of Nulti, Quingeo, Llacao, Sidcay, Santa Ana, Victoria del Portete and Tarqui,” Crespo said. (I)
