New book on signs and words of O. Encalada

Specialized for his research on meanings and symbologies, the language scholar, Oswaldo Encalada Vázquez presents today, at 10:00, at the University of Azuay, his new book: "Words and signs of everyday life."

Encalada has worked for more than 25 years with semiotics (science of signs), etymology (origin and source of words) and this time deepens about it, in the environment of a society full of symbols: signs of the zodiac, Religions, sports or arts are seen daily and often go unnoticed.

“Culture is a fabric of symbols, a plot that is woven into the paths of a people's life and that must be deciphered to understand and enjoy its emancipatory essence,” says Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, alma mater that edits the work.

Toponymias, dictionaries, glossaries about heritage, meanings of names are among the author's research on the subject.
