Scholarships are an alternative to study at the university

Scholarships are an alternative to study at the university

In the absence of spaces in public higher education institutions, fathers and mothers have had to take private universities and technological institutes as an option, however, the main problem is money.

A semester at any private university in Cuenca, for example, does not cost less than 900 dollars. There are cases that the cycle of a career can cost more than 1.500 dollars, and there are few who can afford to study their children or relatives in the institutions. Given this, what alternative can there be for those who do not have an economy, say solid?

Although not new, the scholarships have become the ally and practically the only way out for those who want to obtain a third level degree. And in recent years, aid has increased in Ecuador. In the case of Cuenca, institutions such as the University of Azuay and the Catholic University are awarded for economic status, sports merit and academic merit.

In addition, there are the scholarships offered through the Senescyt. On the one hand, there are the scholarships for quota policies: the State is responsible for paying private institutions so that young people can study in them. In general, those who access this type of scholarship are those who live in a state of vulnerability, and this is defined by a socio-economic record that the student himself filled out and shared while completing the Ser Bachelor process.

In order to know if you obtained this type of scholarship, the moment of the application, which will start next August 1, in the platform of the Ser Bachelor will appear the private university or universities to which you can enter a scholarship.

On the other hand there are scholarships to study abroad. Currently, on the Senescyt website there are six programs to study at universities in the United States and Korea. However, if the applicant does not master English, it is very likely that the opportunities to be selected are negligible.

In case of not applying to study abroad, the student and his representative must be attentive, in case of not obtaining a quota in the public university, to the dates that the private universities plan to apply for a scholarship. In the box you will find the deadlines.
