The need to survive in the pandemic made the national team Belén Carpio create your own basketball club. "I told my family: I'm going to do a zoom vacation," he remembers. The reception he received led him to create a more ambitious project, although some questions ran through his head.

“I went around a thousand times, thinking: and now, it will be to take out a club, it will be that we are doing well, and so by myself, hitting myself on the wall for little, and I said: nothing now, let's jump in, whatever the result, if we don't try, who knows how we are going to go ”.

In September 2020, she began the procedures before the Sports Secretariat and with the advice of her partner Dayana Salcedo, captain of the Tricolor, she was able to register the ATUC Club in the category of Specialized in High Performance.

The name means 'Wolf' in Quechua. “Some have the meaning of a wolf something fierce, alone, but for us it means linking the family, the big ones take care of the little ones, the little ones respect the big ones. We want to train not only athletes but good people that they know how to face problems on and off the pitch ”.

Bethlehem is by graduate as an architect from the Universidad del Azuay. In July he plans to support the thesis. “For me the priority has always been basketball since guagüita that's why the club's madness. Obviously, I'm not going to put aside everything that studying has cost me, but what makes me happy is being at the club ”.

Young people between the ages of 15 and 23 are his students. They have participated in some competitions organized by the Ecuadorian Basketball Federation. With the sub-13 and sub-17 men and with the sub-23 women they qualified for the National 3 × 3 finals which will be in Guayaquil in the coming months.

National League U23

While promoting your personal projects, Belén reinforces the Henko Club, from Azogues, in the National Development League U23, along with one of his pupils and selected Azuaya Sthefany Narváez. She is one of the most experienced of the team that is made up of players between 15 and 20 years of age.

He plays forward, but with his experience he tries to support in all positions. The love that he has for sport and that was largely instilled in him by the professors Patricia Pinos and Patricio Ávila, makes every effort to travel to Azogues and attend the trainings that take place from 05:00 to 07:00.
