A dress made exclusively with plant parts is one of the novelties that can be found in the exhibition of works “Enfants terrible”, (in Spanish, “Terrible children”), which present students of the Textile and Industrial Design career, of the Universidad del Azuay, open to the public in the Cézanne gallery, of the French Alliance (Tadeo Torres y Solano street, diagonal to the police offices).

Female dresses, women's jacket-like clothing and tapestry art are part of this exhibition of works in which students have worked.

The jackets are characterized by artistic designs and the decorations stamped on them, especially female figures and silhouettes, almost always with a content that transcends the decoration. There is no lack of a design highlighted with the cover of a fashion magazine.

They look like wall curtains, but they can be tapestries or object art, they are not only ornamental but some artistic, either by the materials or by the proposal: the image print of a “corrupt justice”, or another made of dozens of tiny hats of Toquilla straw, the size of a key ring. Some have pop art, others install.

Seven evening dresses for women, with a predominance of black and models to surprise the bold and sensual, complete the show: some of them made of pure textile pieces; The other, vegetable.

There is a certain political intention in the images. One of the lines of the proposal is to propose, through Design, “an insurgent, insuminous proposal, to the regimes imposed in the fashions that exist”, as well as the sociopolitical systems.
