Communicate the needs, emotions and feelings of people with cerebral palsy, is the goal of alternative communication systems designed by the University of Azuay (UDA). These are three systems that were delivered yesterday to the Institute of Cerebral Palsy of Azuay (IPCA).
The first consists of an organizer of routines, the second a communication system of basic needs and the last one is a personalized system for basic needs, so that children and young people of the IPCA can communicate through technology, said Eulalia Tapia yesterday. teacher of the UDA.
The students of the schools of: Special Education, Clinical Psychology and Science and Technology participated in the project.
The first identified the needs of the beneficiaries.
Science and Technology put together communication systems, and Psychology intervened to young people and their families in the therapeutic part.
The students worked together with IPCA professionals during the development process.
The teacher pointed out that between 25 and 30 young people benefit from the project whose first phase began in October 2017 and ended with the creation and delivery of the systems. The second stage will consist of training the teachers of the Paralysis Institute in its use. This will begin in the middle of this month and will end at the end of next July.
