He started the first department of entrepreneurship in UDA

An initiative of the student leadership, in alliance with professors, which starts with 30 projects.

With 30 projects, most referring to technology, yesterday the Department of Entrepreneurship of the University of Azuay (UDA) called "Sinergia" was inaugurated; an initiative of the UDAFE student federation.

The rector of the University, Francisco Salgado, supports this proposal because he considers that entrepreneurs are those people who, even in spite of all odds, take risks and create their own companies, which is why they become a fundamental part of the country's production.

At the discretion of Jacinto Guillén, vice chancellor, it is a goal of universities to get students to start generating companies and offering work, not looking for it.
It reveals that the UDA support for Sinergia is still not structured at the budget level, but warns that it is firmly committed to including it and generating actions with the main objective of generating technology-based ventures and multidisciplinary advice.

Prof. Andrés Ugalde, Director of Entrepreneurship, applauded this initiative of the students, but exhorted not to be left alone in the "start" of the project but to keep it with time.

The business fabric of Ecuador, says Ugalde, is what sustains employment and creates wealth in the country, and in reality entrepreneurs are the ones who lead these proposals, therefore, promoting these initiatives is the obligation of all.

Statistics

However, he warns that not everything is positive, because there are statistics that warn that a large majority of ventures are created outside of innovation and technology, as a result, they are proposals that do not exceed two or three years of life and disappear.

That is why, for Ugalde, this Department is key, as long as it becomes a real support in advising and monitoring the different proposals.

Santiago Castillo, president of UDAFE, assures that not everything will remain in the inauguration of Sinergia, assures that they will continue in the management to support the different proposals that arrive, for it affirms that they count on the commitment of the educational plant of the UDA, in addition of its facilities.

The student leader, who has already graduated, says that joint work is key to take forward the different initiatives. They will not do it in an improvised way, they point out that they have a structure and organization ready, and as a fundamental piece they also have contacts with organizations to develop the proposals.

This Department is put at the service of students of this University, and in a second stage for graduates; It has no cost. It is opened to assist, advise and follow up in different areas with the alliance formed between the rectorate, vice-rector and UDAFE.
