Inauguration of the chapel at the University of Azuay

On Monday, October 04, the inauguration of the chapel in the UDA, dedicated to Santa Clara and San Francisco, was held.

With the presence of Monsignor Marcos Pérez, Archbishop of Cuenca, several priests, university authorities and students, on Monday, October 04, from 09:00, the solemn Eucharist was held to inaugurate the chapel on the premises of the University of Azuay .

The chapel is dedicated to Santa Clara and San Francisco and is open to students so that they can have the ideal space to meditate and approach God through prayer. Father Rommel Soto Coordinator of the University Pastoral, thanked the university authorities for the support given to this project that, after months of efforts and work, could finally become a reality.

Francisco Salgado, Rector, said that the university is a human institution and the chapel is the symbol that manifests the importance that exists in that relationship with God, with oneself and with others, it reflects the sense of the soul of the person and of the university community can live fully the love of Jesus and nature. He also wanted this space to show the way to live as children of God in reciprocity and harmony with everyone.

For his part, Monsignor Marcos expressed his desire that the patron saints of this chapel, Francisco and Clara, be a testimony of dedication and humility for all those who come to this space. He also said that it is a symbol of hope that it has resurfaced in these difficult times, with more strength, since the university, since its inception, has had Catholic foundations.

In the Eucharist, the culminating moment of the encounter with the Lord, the feeling of the community present and praying was to pray to God that this blessed space keep them united to his Father's love, likewise, that it always be a place of fraternity, of encounter and work for the common good.
