Winning the Cannes award is Andrea Ávila's dream

Winning the Cannes award is Andrea Ávila's dream

She watched her father carry out his activities as a university professor and social communicator. She was interested in each of the tasks her father performed, especially those that helped solve other people's problems. That was what sparked Andrea Ávila's passion for the world of advertising, without imagining that she would succeed in the United States (US).

She was a girl who from an early age had a taste for art and music. She grew up to stand out as a good student. She entered university and obtained two professional degrees: graphic designer at the University of Cuenca, and, social communicator and publicist, at the University of Azuay (UDA).

Andrea travels to the USA

She decided to travel to the United States about two years ago to pursue a master's degree. She did so at Florida International University in a joint program with Miami Ad School called Global Strategic Communications.

At first it was a bit complicated because she had to know English perfectly. However, she had important basics of the language that she improved and allowed her to understand all the new knowledge she acquired with highly experienced teachers.

He perfected all his skills to undertake surprising advertising campaigns. Precisely, this has helped him to achieve 15 awards this year, both personally and as a group, depending on the objective.

She learned about the importance that must be given to the idea in order to carry out a campaign. She likes it, and one of her strengths is to carry out campaigns with a social tone because in this way problems are made evident and solutions are given.

Award after award for his work

She once created a campaign that won a prize for a feminine pad with a mechanism that allows women to know if something is happening inside their body. Similarly, she created another campaign related to the fact that there are many children who suffer from myopia due to excessive use of cell phones, mainly because the screens are placed at a close distance from the eyes.

Among the most important awards are two that she won at the D&AD event held in London. She also won two at the One Club competition held in New York, and another award at One Club Miami.

Andrea, 29, is even part of a ranking where she is ranked 39th among the best art directors in the world for her work. All this fills her father Bolívar Ávila with pride, as he watches as the one he considers his little girl makes her way as an outstanding professional. He believes that any sacrifice made has been worth it to see his daughter fulfilled.

Her achievements have led a major advertising agency to hire her since April last year at its Miami headquarters. This is David The Agency, which is part of the Ogilvy company.

Andrea's goals

Andrea's dreams have no limits because she wants to continue to succeed in order to raise the name of Ecuador. She would like to promote advertising alliances between Ecuador and the United States for large campaigns worldwide.

She wants to win the Cannes award, which is the most important award in the world for an advertising professional, and also to generate campaigns for, for example, UN Women.

Andrea is a clear example that everything can be achieved with perseverance. It doesn't matter if it's within or outside the country because those who are talented reflect it everywhere.
