Winners of Old Years and Masquerades receive prize

Amistad Club and the Union of Journalists of Azuay are preparing for tonight's event in which the neighborhoods and institutions that won in the contest 2018 Old Years and the 2019 Masquerades will be awarded. The act will be developed from the 19: 00 hours at the South Amistad Club located in the El Salado sector.

"We are pleased to reward the winning neighborhoods that participated in these contests. In addition to the money, they will receive medals and plaques of remembrance. " Luis Chiriboga, president of Amistad Club, said.

El Vergel was the neighborhood that won the first place in the contest of Old Years with its theme "La Ortiga Film Festival", this neighborhood will receive 3.000 dollars. The Central district is in second place with the theme "Bailoterápia Política" and will receive 2.000 dollars. Also El Vado is part of the group of winners with its theme "The genius in the country of the toads" and will receive 1.500 dollars. Likewise, the neighborhoods Parque Iberia, Juan Jaramillo and San Francisco, which are in fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively, will receive 1.000 dollars as a prize.

Regarding the 2019 Mascaradas, in the institutional category, the first prize of 4.000 dollars will be delivered to the Universidad del Azuay, the second prize of 3.000 dollars to the Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito "Jardín Azuayo" and the third prize of 2.000 dollars to the University of Cuenca.

In the comparsa category, the San Francisco neighborhood will receive 1.500 dollars for the first place, followed by the Flores family with a prize of 1.000 dollars and finally the Vanegas family with a prize of 500 dollars.

In the Children's category, the Luis Cordero Educational Unit will receive as a prize 500 dollars for its theme "The circus of happiness". While, in the individual category, Victor Hugo Espinoza and Carlos Chuisaca will receive 200 and 100 dollars for the first and second place respectively.
