Gabriela Calderón: new Queen of Cuenca 2021

After two years of reign, Nikole Salinas said goodbye to her work as Queen of Cuenca. On the night of Friday, October 22, the coronation of the new sovereign took place prior to the celebration of the Independence of Cuenca. 

Gabriela Calderón is the new representative of the Fundación Reinas de Cuenca. She is 20 years old and studies social communication at the University of Azuay 

The election was held at the Carlos Cueva Tamariz Theater. Roberto Begué and Ana María Apolo were in charge of leading the event. 

The design of the crown is inspired by orchids, a flower that symbolizes resilience and strength. "The colors and textures, especially of the orchids, are reflected in this magnificent crown, which pays homage to life, love, coexistence and giving value to the little things," described the Queens of Cuenca Foundation through a publication.
