Francisco Salgado is re-elected as rector of the University of Azuay

At the University of Azuay (UDA) the elections of the authorities for the period 3-2022 were held this Friday, December 2027.

With the majority support of students, professors and administrative staff, Francisco Salgado was re-elected in that position.

The UDA is one of the most important academic institutions in the Azuaya city with 53 years of history.

Francisco Salgado will continue in office accompanied by Genoveva Malo as academic vice-rector and Raffaella Ansaloni at the head of the research vice-rector.

The celebration of list 1 began at 17:00 p.m., despite the fact that there were no official data. But then, starting at 17:20 p.m., the Electoral Court made the voting trend official.

Ximena Mejía, secretary of the Electoral Tribunal of the UDA, read the minutes that gave Salgado the victory with the vote of 192 teachers, 152 administrators and 966 students, which in the end and under the weighting formula gave 60,31% of valid votes.

Salgado commented that his work will focus on fulfilling his work plan in search of a better university. As for the militants on list 2, he commented that even if he differs from his proposals, he will have no problem shaking hands with them.

For her part, the candidate for list 2, Cecilia Ugalde, commented that they will continue to work for the university community and although this time they did not win, they are hopeful that the group formed for this election will remain firm and critical of what they believe. which is not well in the administration of the university.

Until 18:00 p.m. they did not define whether they will challenge the elections, since although there is reliability in electronic voting, the opening of the polls would be considered ideal to guarantee the transparency of the process.

The possession of the new authorities is scheduled for January 2022 and from then on they will lead that university in Cuenca for the next five years. (I)
