The University of Azuay, in a solemn session of its University Council, recognized yesterday, with the Honorato Vázquez award, the best graduates of alma mater schools, in the 2017-2018 period.

 

To the rhythm of the "Triumphal March", of the opera "Aída", of Verdi, performed by a pianist, young 28, mostly women, entered the university auditorium for the ceremony. They wore a laurel wreath at their temples, just as in the Greek and Roman cultures honor poets, athletes and successful fighters were honored.

 

They were preceded by the academics of the UDA Council, dressed in academic robes, blue and black, especially for the ceremony.

 

Marta Cobos, Vice Chancellor of the University, supported the discourse of order. He pointed out that the success of the young laureates is the result of their personal effort, but also that of their relatives and especially their parents who knew how to guide them from their first steps, to see them, now, professionals, ready for the world of work, always with a vision of community service.

 

At the ceremony the graduates were recognized, for their outstanding qualifications: Nataly Quito, Juan Gutiérrez, María Cristina Carrasco, Estáfany Tintín, Adrián Sigüencia, Pablo Cordero, Pedro Carrión, Sara Durán, Fabian Serrano, Natalia Velez, Juliana Montesinos, Tatiana Cabrera , Adriana Bravo, Paulina Serrano, Gabriela Peñafiel.

 

Ana Isabel Cordero, Paulina Martinez, Micaela Ferrari, Rosaura Bustamante, María Lorena Eljuri, Cristian Blacio, Andrea Trujillo, María Denisse Heimbath, Fernando Ottati, Erika Gutiérrez, Carmen River, Ana Enriquez and Edgar Pizarro.

 

María C. Carrasco, a graduate of the specialty of Organizational Psychology, was also recognized among all the graduates, for having the highest grade.

 

The vice-chancellor added that the university advances with academic projects such as teaching English as a second language from early education in the annexed schools, better support for students, student mobility. He cited the rector Francisco Salgado when expressing that the university is "seat of reason, but also of the heart."
