"The projection of the teacher is established in coherence, knowledge and certainty".

-Oswaldo Encalada

The sensation of opening a dictionary to consult the meaning of a word is similar to a conversation with Oswaldo Encalada Vásquez, writer, researcher and professor; he is one of the characters whose name is kept in a space in the history of the city and in the country through his deep research on signs and letters.

Since 1977 he worked at the University of Azuay, which has also become his publishing house, since he has several publications to his credit. He comments that he graduated from the University of Cuenca and there he had a clear academic history.

“There was never a hiatus or a pause between being a student and being a teacher, I immediately went from one to the other, and although until March of last year I was in teaching, which I left for reasons of suspicion and doubts that I had in the sense of the relationship between the IESS and the Ecuadorian State ”, he states about the reason why he chose to retire from the academic part.

For him, teaching was the closest thing to fun. "That does not mean that there have been low-level courses or lack of learning, because I believe that education does not have to be boring," he admits.

Reading goes hand in hand with his personal history, and that love that grew with him, for books, he instilled in his students. "It is a source of knowledge, the best company to generate new ideas and find treasures", stressed the writer.

He considers that in his teaching practice he always sought that respectful closeness with the students, "without neglecting the creativity in the classrooms, understanding and accepting that we all learn all the time". With a firm career and a name recorded in national literary history, this man continues to teach.
