Ecuagenera and UDA will form an alliance for research

Yesterday, the University of Azuay and Ecuagenera signed an agreement to increase the research carried out on the Ecuadorian flora. Both institutions have been closely related to the topic, however, researchers have been working separately.

José Portilla, CEO of Ecuagenera, was pleased with the inter-institutional work that will be achieved with the agreement.

"The University of Azuay has conducted research, Ecuagenera also, but by its side. If we focus separately there is a lot of work, but if we join together we will do a great job, "said Portilla.

Ecuador, a year, loses 90.000 hectares composed of hundreds of species that are not known, according to José, so researching together will help at least in the country know the flora we have.

"People do not know what plants we have. Maybe they are not very showy and they are destroyed. But in its environment it has a lot of relationship and they are necessary, however, that is not known, "explained Portilla.

Research

With the signing of the agreement, those involved will go to the field to identify the plants that are not known, after that they will be analyzed to be classified as new, if they are. The information collected will be published to seek its dissemination among the citizens.

"We have made several publications that we must make known, because with it we will be able to conserve the plants that we have in our country. It is very necessary to prevent its destruction. Working alone will be impossible to cover all fields, "said José. (AWM) - (I)
