University autonomy, higher education and geopolitics of knowledge, the university of today and the need for a new illustration were discussed in the First International Seminar on "Thought about the University", developed this week by the UDA. Roberto Follari, from the University of Cuyo, Argentina, was one of the speakers. Part of his thesis is that universities go through a crisis of rationality.

 

There is a notion of supposed progress, but we live an era with a generation with "light subjectivity", devoid of method, of demand, with problems even in the language and abstraction on the part of some young people, "a visual and auditory generation when, Apparently, a smarphone is a stimulus terminal where everything is, "he says.

 

It is a lack of sense that is contributing to an absence of democracy, emphasizes, and exemplifies that, in many countries, totalitarian politicians gain ground, as in Brazil, which is half of the territory, population and wealth of South America.

 

The policy that is based on the post-truth must be fought by recovering the weight of the discussion, to which the university must contribute.

 

Likewise, higher education should defend advances such as gratuity, but at the same time advance in increasing the presence of popular sectors, increase the social relevance of the university, improve its management, conciliate democracy and participation with enforceability.
