David Ordoñez Cuencan entrepreneur, passionate about animals

David Ordoñez, 29 years old, is a mining engineer with a master's degree in Project Management. The Cuencano is multifaceted, in addition to being an entrepreneur, he is CEO and co-founder of "Me Ciudas" pets and is part of the Saraguro a Caballo project. 

 

David was always passionate about animals, because since he was a child he was surrounded by cows and horses. His dream was to be a veterinarian but his anatomy and theory led him to decline this career in his first year and opted for mining engineering. "We have a family business dedicated to the commercialization of metals. Thinking of going beyond the commercial mining part, I opted for a career at the University of Azuay," says the Cuencano. 

 

University studies were combined with the family business. His professional profile did not focus on the extractivist and commercial part, so he decided to do a master's degree in Project Management, visualizing the administrative and technical part. 

 

The creation of a coworking space was part of his research work for the master's degree "I replicated the knowledge in the master's degree in the construction of this space in Cuenca," says David. 

 

The Ofi Coworking are offices for entrepreneurs, small businesses and freelancers who need a space to develop their activities. It is a collaborative work site, with multiple services and flexible hours. It is located at Calle Bolívar 14-36 and Estévez Toral. 

 

"It is a place where executives, professionals and everyone in general can work, hold meetings with clients, collaborate with colleagues, network or simply enjoy a coffee without worrying about suppliers. We take care of managing the necessary services and equipment ", Explain. Those interested pay for memberships, being able to use the boardroom, meeting room, photo studio, cleaning and grooming, copy station, messaging service, internet lockers and access to the cafeteria. 

 

Paula Crespo, in love with David, is a graphic designer and as part of her thesis design she carried out awareness campaigns on the responsible trend of pets. "It was concluded that the lack of sterilization is the main problem for the abandonment of animals," she says. That is how they jointly started a campaign in the city. The thesis topic became a self-sustaining project and was the beginning of "Me Cuidas" pets. "We make accessories for animals and people, without losing the social focus and axis of awareness, care and responsible ownership," says David.

 

David's passion is dogs and horses. Between laughs he tells that before walking he already knew how to ride a horse. Together with his cousin, the idea of ​​carrying out the "Saguro a Caballo" initiative arose. This venture focuses on enjoying horseback riding that unite different places, especially the provinces of Azuay and Loja. This equestrian activity promotes adventure tourism and rescues Cañari roads and routes. 

 

In addition to promoting local and national tourism, it promotes the economy in each of the towns, villages, communities or parishes, generating a collaborative economy and a reactivation of rural areas in the south of Ecuador.
