Cuenca will be "city of light"

 

There are three events that are part of the "Cuenca Ciudad de Luz" program organized by the Municipality of Cuenca.

 

The first will be held tomorrow and consists of lighting the largest Christmas tree in the country, which is 35 meters high and is in El Otorongo plaza, said yesterday Tania Sarmiento, executive director of the Municipal Tourism Foundation for Cuenca. The lights will turn on at the 19: 00.

 

While on Friday at the 18: 30 will be held the "Festival of Lights", organized by the Community of Friars of Santo Domingo in honor of the Virgin Morenica, with the support of the Tourism Foundation.

 

Three allegories will be installed with 8.000 lanterns elaborated by the students of the Faculty of Design of the University of Azuay. One will be in the Plaza de Santo Domingo, another in the old Central School, and another in the San Luis Seminary.

 

The attendance of some 8.000 people is expected. The events will culminate the December 15 with the inauguration of the park of La Luz, on the hill "You are Pedro".
