University Network created for bicentennial of Independence

“Ethics, University and Society”, a joint academic project of the city's universities, is one of the cultural proposals with which higher education centers will contribute to the celebration of the bicentenary of the Independence of Cuenca.

The event, scheduled for October of 2020, is in preparation and each alma mater will contribute with papers, scientific articles, book launches.

For this purpose, the “University and Citizen Network of Ethics and Bioethics” has been formed, which is made up of professors from all universities, including: Catalina León Pesántez, Juan Martínez, Juan Pablo Salgado, Andrés Martínez, Ernesto Robalino, among others, explains Juan Morales, from the Ethics program of the Universidad del Azuay (UDA).

“The legal status of the Embryo and its relationship with Bioethics”, (it is worked by the UDA teacher, Santiago Jara); "Ethics in Visual Communication and Image Manipulation"; “Free legal offices and access to justice for vulnerable groups”; “Ethics in the judging function”, a project in which Pablo Valverde, president of the Court of Justice, with the support of university students, collaborates, are some of the investigations to be dealt with.

The Ethics program of the UDA intends to contribute under the approach of Ethics, with the university work of teaching, research and service to society ”. The central idea is that ethical criteria have a basis for study, based on philosophy, religious studies, without claiming to cancel personal criteria on ethical and cultural problems, says the professor.
