Constitutional Court in Cuenca

The Constitutional Court of Ecuador will be present in Cuenca in a fair tribute to the City for its 201 years of Independence. It will meet with its Plenary on November 3 in the Hall of Honor of the University of Azuay and will hold, together with this academic community, on November 4, the conference: the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court: a vision from its judges.

Your presence is good. The Cuencan academy and judicial system have stood out in the country for a responsible, ethical and effortful management of their actions, always, towards achieving a vindication of the professional exercise and of the human being.

It must be remembered that the Ecuadorian Constitution of 1845 was born in Cuenca. It is said that it was really the first Constitution of Ecuador, due to the fact that it had -for the first time- the presence of exclusively Ecuadorian constituents. Among the regulations that it brought, it stands out that it reestablished the constitutional legal order, designing the need for Congress to meet periodically and for the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice to be appointed without the intervention of the President of the Republic.

In it, an approach to the principle of innocence is determined, since it recognized that every citizen is and has the right to preserve his good reputation, as long as he does not declare himself a criminal according to the laws. But the Cuencan Constitution of 1845 brought more innovations in terms of rights and guarantees for people. Thus, it regulated the recognition - not typical for the time - of the guarantee of intellectual property with respect to those who invent, improve or introduce new means to advance the industry.

Yes. It was a Constitution with a Cuencan tinge. For example, among the powers of Congress, it was regulated that it should encourage and promote public education, the progress of the sciences and the arts, even pointing out that privileges or advantages can be generated for the realization or improvement of companies or public works. interesting to the Nation or for the establishment of unknown arts or industries in Ecuador.

So, fair and honorable presence of the Constitutional Court in our City. Long live Cuenca! (OR)
