Storyteller appointment with avid readers at the UDA

A campus of stories and books at the UDA. In Marathon del Cuento you can breathe literature, with authors sharing creations with the boys

Hundreds, thousands of children and young people arrived from the schools and colleges of the city and took the campus of the University of Azuay, (UDA), peaceful invasion of its spaces, auditoriums and library transformed into a large reading and listening room of stories for the VI edition of the Story Marathon that opened yesterday and continues today.

A fairy of the stories dressed in red and two reading mediators, in the preamble of the inauguration, told stories to a group of children. Then the formal inauguration, by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay ...

The rector highlighted the work of writers, designers and illustrators of children's story books; he thanked students and teachers of the UDA Design career for their work for the meeting; congratulated Eliana Bojorque, inspirer of it in Cuenca; and: he told the story "Light is like water", about children who end up sailing at home.

Fifteen national writers with an international guest, Alicia Barberis, from Argentina, attend this marathon of reading-listening to stories, stories and traditions. Not a simple reading of texts and passive listening, but dramatized narratives and active listening that generate mutual emotions.

Girándula, the Ecuadorian Association of Children and Young People Book again organizes this event together with the UDA, the Municipality of Cuenca and its Directorates of Culture and International Relations, the Federation of Catholic Education (FEDEC); and, the Asunción Educational Unit. They support the French Alliance and the House of Culture and sponsor Subway, Royal Inca Hotel and other firms.

The writer Leonor Bravo, president of Girándula, recalled that, previously, they trained teachers and students of Pedagogy and Design through workshops so that they can mediate reading with their future students and then the author Edna Iturralde, with her stories, captivated to the boys

 

Outside the central auditorium of the UDA the campus boiled. Each tent or stand was a sample of living literature. The Victoria del Portete educational unit with its children writers and teachers encouraging reading; Alexandra Moreno, author of short stories, with a giant book in mineral paper and her project "Mamui Cocina", a guinea pig who tells stories; the municipal office of International Relations and its didactic planisphere with which children learn; Editorials and more.

The UDA took out its stand of publications, previous and recent; his faculty of Design, his thesis as art books and illustration of micro stories. The House of Culture itself and the EU Asunción.

The marathon continues today, from 08:00, there will be more readings, meetings and books will be presented.
