Bernal will lead vaccination and safety

Esteban Bernal, a former assemblyman for the province of Azuay, was appointed as the new governor of Azuay, by Guillermo Lasso, the new president of Ecuador. He will replace José Jaramilllo. 

Bernal has a master's degree in Economics with a major in Finance from the University of Cuenca. He also has a postgraduate degree in Stock Market from the University of Azuay (UDA). He has extensive experience in the public sector. 

He was a candidate for the Prefecture of Azuay and has held positions as manager of the Cuenca Cleaning Company (EMAC EP) and head of the Government and Administration Secretariat of the Municipality of Cuenca. 

Likewise, he served as director of Social Assistance and Board of Trustees; and private secretary, of the Provincial Council of Azuay. He was also the administrative head Inverastruo. 

¨ We have planned fundamental axes, but above all this moment we are experiencing an emergency to which we are assuming a responsibility…. We have to work in the field of security ... ¨, he indicated. 

And he added: ¨the environmental issue will be a fundamental part of our actions and of course the issue of vaccination we lead from the governor with the articulation of all authorities ... ¨. 

He also announced that he will lead the security actions and cited that the Sierra Centro Sur Social Rehabilitation Center (CRS), which is in Turi, has generated problems for the city, and that this requires a solution. 

He indicated that he has previously consulted with security experts and will present a security plan as specific actions in due course.
