The University of Azuay celebrates fifty years of service to the country. It is not a common academic headquarters. It has developed its own dynamics that have made it occupy a transcendental place in the history of Cuenca and the region.

Today, she maintains her spirit that animates her. There are several promotions that have gone through the University. Among its ranks, graduates stand out who have served different sectors of the State in the public and private sphere; their professors and administrators are high-level officials with a deep humanist sense, who have provided their best efforts for generations in order to achieve a collective project for quality higher education in the country. The thought that he imagined the University of Azuay was the one that defined it as the seat of reason and the heart. Its internationalization shows the meaning of a University that defines its leading role in the environment.

The University of Azuay, as stated by its rector, has taken a meaning that looks at the surrender to the other under the principle of reciprocity, which is above the utilitarian calculation of consequences.
