XVIII Congress of the Latin American Society of Neuropsychology: opening ceremony

On November 13, the University of Azuay, together with its Faculty of Psychology, held the inauguration of the XVIII Congress of the Latin American Society of Neuropsychology; an event in harmony with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was attended by authorities, teachers and students from our university community, members of the different institutions that participated in this important congress and the general public.

For the first time, Cuenca and Ecuador are hosting the congress of the Latin American Society of Neuropsychology, whose identity is anchored in two elements: neuropsychology and our Latin American origin. The statutes of the SLAN recognize that neuropsychology is eminently interdisciplinary, and is of interest to clinicians and researchers from different professions such as medicine, psychology, speech therapy, linguistics, computer science, etc.

The opening ceremony began with a speech by Francisco Salgado, rector of the University of Azuay, who mentioned the importance of promoting these spaces for the exchange of knowledge and organizing hope for new generations.

In turn, Martha Cobos, dean of the Faculty of Psychology, addressed the audience, mentioning that great achievements require a lot of time and that this congress is no exception. She emphasized that neuropsychology is fundamental since it works with human beings, empathy and caring for others.

For his part, Ariel Cuadro, president of the Latin American Society of Neuropsychology, expressed his gratitude to the institution for providing the space to hold this meeting; he emphasized how neuropsychology contributes to the quality of life and promotes well-being at all levels.
