Visit of the Minister of Labor to the UDA Baños Campus and the Central Campus

On June 10, the Minister of Labor, Luis Arturo Poveda, visited the new UDA Baños Campus (E-Cub) and the Central Campus of the University of Azuay.

The Minister toured the work together with Francisco Salgado, Rector of the University of Azuay, and Xavier Bermúdez, Regional Director of Labor, together with collaborators from both institutions.

During the tour, the Minister was able to verify the labor and biosecurity measures that have been taken to resume the work and work at the E-CUB.

As the person in charge of the project, Felipe Andrade, told Campus, the staff were equipped with all the individual biosafety equipment: masks, individual bottles of alcohol, antifluid coveralls, goggles and helmets with a protective screen.

"The campus also has multiple hand washing stations with liquid soap and paper towels, alcohol spray for hands, carpets at the entrance of offices, dining room and dormitories for shoe cleaning," said Andrade.

Temperature control is constantly carried out on workers and the cleaning of handles, locks, handrails, work tables, desks and floors (there are specific hygiene and cleaning processes with the dishes in the dining rooms).

“The working day was established in 24/6; in other words, we set up dining camps (3 meals / day) and dormitories (one person for every 15 m2), in order to avoid exposing workers' personnel to public transport and / or contact with possible infected ”, added Andrade.

In addition, rapid -random- blood tests are carried out every 15 days to measure the immunoglobulins of individuals. 

The campus has signage and informational posters regarding biosafety regulations and hydration stations.

During the visit of the Minister to the Central Campus, the creation and donation of cabins for the safe taking of Covid-19 tests was presented, and the creation and installation of a disinfection system designed and created at the University of Azuay which works with the use of solar energy.
