Universities without Violence. Visit by Julia Kushigian, Fulbright gender specialist

Within the framework of the Universities without Gender Violence program, on November 8 the University of Azuay, the Department of Equity and Gender, the Fulbright Commission and the Council of Higher Education, carried out the socialization on Gender Violence in the Institutions of Higher education.

The month of November is a period of special relevance in the fight against Gender Violence, since the Day of No Violence against Women is commemorated during the 16 days of activism. In this context, we have had the privilege of having the visit of Dr. Julia Kushigian, a Fulbright gender specialist. Her presence in our institution gives us a current, cosmopolitan and academic perspective in the search for the eradication of gender violence in universities.

Dr. Kushigian, committed to promoting harmonious and respectful relationships in the university environment, will hold important meetings with all members of our academic community. Its objective is to strengthen the ties of understanding and cooperation between those of us who are part of this prestigious educational institution.

At the opening event, the dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Martha Cobos, addressed a few words to the public, highlighting the valuable work of the Department of Equity and Gender in organizing this meeting. She highlighted the importance of jointly building a culture of peace and respect in academic institutions.

This space for reflection and awareness on a topic as relevant as the eradication of gender violence is essential to move towards a more just and equitable society. We hope that the teachings and perspectives shared during these meetings will have a lasting impact on our university community and society as a whole.
