On September 8, Pedro Samaniego, Director of the Planning Department at the University of Azuay, became the first Ecuadorian to obtain Minergie certification for completing the course "Understanding Buildings as a Whole", offered by this prestigious Swiss entity. .

The Minergie certification enables Samaniego to evaluate buildings based on various sustainability parameters, classifying them and ensuring that they meet the criteria of this international standard. The entity, with headquarters in Mexico and Chile, offers solutions that are especially relevant to the Latin American context, enriching local certification options.
